KOCHA wa zamani wa Prisons ya Mbeya, Juma Mwambusi, ameteuliwa kuinoa timu ya Simba ya Dar es Salaam.

Habari zilizopatikana kutoka ndani ya klabu hiyo mjini Dar es Salaam jana, zilisema kocha huyo atainoa timu hiyo kwa mashindano ya Kombe la Mapinduzi linalotarajia kuanza mwishoni mwa wiki mjini Zanzibar.

Kocha huyo atasaidiana na Amri Said wakati jitihada za kumpata kocha mpya wa kigeni zikiendelea.

"Tumemchukua Mwambusi na kesho (leo), tutamtambulisha rasmi na ataanza mara moja kazi ya kukinoa kikosi," kilisema chanzo cha habari hii.

Chanzo hicho kilidai kuwa Simba imeachana na suala la mserbia Milovan Cirkovic na kufanya mazungumzo na Patrick Phiri wa Zambia, na makocha wengine wa Ureno na Ujerumani.

Kilisema katika mazungumzo ya awali, Phiri ameonyesha nia ya kurejea Msimbazi.

Steven Gerrard was today charged with assault and affray following a nightclub brawl, Merseyside police said.

The 28-year-old Liverpool captain was arrested along with five other men near the Lounge Inn in Southport in the early hours of Monday.

He was charged this morning along with two other men who had also been arrested after the altercation.

The venue's DJ, 34-year-old Marcus McGee, required hospital treatment after suffering facial injuries.

Gerrard, 28, was released from Southport police station early this morning.

He was at the restaurant and bar - which turns into a nightclub - with friends to celebrate Liverpool's 5-1 destruction of Newcastle United.

In a statement, a Merseyside Police spokesman said: 'Merseyside Police has charged Steven Gerrard, 28 years, of Formby, Sefton, John Doran, 29, and Ian Smith, 19 years, both from Huyton, Liverpool, with assault occasioning actual bodily harm and affray following an incident at Bold Street in Southport in the early hours of Monday, December 29.

'The three men will be appearing at North Sefton Magistrates' Court on January 23.'

The spokesman said Gerrard and the two other men had been bailed and three other men, aged 18, 31 and 33, who were arrested in connection with the incident were bailed pending further inquiries.

After the game on Sunday the Reds' captain, who scored twice, hailed his table-topping side as the best he has played in.

But several hours later he was apparently caught up in a brawl outside the Lounge Inn in Bold Street.

Police were called and arrested six men on suspicion of assault in nearby Lord Street.
The town centre business remained shut yesterday but evidence of a fight inside could be seen through the windows.

Earlier in the night, the 28-year-old father of two looked happy and relaxed as he posed for photographs with fans. Yet soon afterwards he was in a cell accused of taking part in a violent assault.

Mr McGee, 34, lost a tooth and suffered cuts and bruises when he was allegedly set upon by the footballer and his friends after refusing to play Gerrard's favourite song while acting as a DJ in a bar in Southport, Merseyside.

Witnesses of the alleged attack said Mr McGee, a Manchester United fan, was in charge of a card which allowed the music to be changed.

They claimed Gerrard asked for a particular tune but was told that it was not club policy to play requests.

At that point the footballer allegedly pushed past Mr McGee, catching him with an elbow.

A police source said: 'Mr McGee retaliated and swore at Gerrard, which was when Gerrard's mates turned violent and assaulted him.'

Friends of the England star insisted he had been reacting to provocation and had thrown no punches himself.

Mr McGee, a father of two who runs a double glazing firm, was taken to hospital where he received four stitches to his forehead and treatment on a cut nose, swollen eye and a dislodged tooth.

A witness told the Sun newspaper there had been bad feeling in the bar earlier. He said: 'Marcus came into the bar with two friends and some time later Gerrard walked in. One of Gerrard's mates hadhad a dispute with one of Marcus's pals and they eyeballed each other.

'Marcus stepped in a peacemaker and it calmed down for a while. Everyone was drinking and having a good time, but when Marcus's mates left, he was on his own and that's when he and Gerrard started rowing by the dancefloor.'

The bar was closed for much of yesterday while damage from the 2am brawl was cleared up. Spots of blood were clearly visible on the floor.

Gerrard and five friends - all but one from the tough working class Huyton area where he grew up - were arrested on suspicion of assault and ordered to spend the night in the cells at the town's police station.

It is understood that questioning did not begin until yesterday afternoon.

Gerrard's glamorous wife, model Alex Curran, 26, arrived during the afternoon wearing grey jeans, black boots and a black fur-trimmed leather jacket.

She was herself questioned by police following a fight in the Shangri-La restaurant in Liverpool in August 2006, but no charges were brought.

After leaving a coffee shop near the police station she refused to answer questions before driving off in her Bentley.

Another Bentley with a personalised number plate which was parked outside the Lounge Inn with a parking ticket on the windscreen was later picked up by a friend of Gerrard.

Neither the player's agent nor his club released any statement about the incident yesterday as they waited to find out whether he would be charged.

Gerrard used to have a flat in Southport but his rising profile made him a target on nights out and he moved into a £ 3million gated mansion in nearby Formby.

He returned to his old haunts, however, following Sunday's victory, after which he gave interviews about the need to 'remain humble, keep our feet on the ground'.

It is not known if he had been given permission by his manager, although Liverpool's next match is not until Saturday, against Preston in the FA Cup.

The supporter who had his picture taken with Gerrard shortly before the fight broke out said the footballer was 'in a good mood'.

The fan, who did not give his name, told ITV news: 'He seemed buoyant. I'm shocked that anything would have happened. I had a chat with him in the toilet and he was chuffed with the victory and it all seemed very nice.'

The fan added that he left the bar before the fight broke out.

Merseyside police said six arrests had been made on suspicion of a 'section 20 assault', which carries a maximum sentence of five years. Those in custody apart from Gerrard were four men from Huyton aged 33, 31, 29 and 19, and an 18-year-old from Litherland.

Gerrard is the latest in a long line of footballers to become involved in unsavoury incidents off the pitch.

Almost exactly a year ago, Joey Barton, who also grew up in Huyton, attacked a passerby after a night out in Liverpool, knocking him to the ground and punching him up to 20 times.

The 25-year-old, who plays for Newcastle United, was given a six-month jail sentence but served less than half - even though at the time of the attack he was on bail for attacking former team-mate Ousmane Dabo during training. He later received a suspended sentence for that offence as well as a 12-game ban.

In 2002, Chelsea's John Terry stood trial along with teammate Jody Morris accused of attacking a nightclub bouncer. Both were cleared.

The same year another current England international, Jonathan Woodgate, now of Spurs, was found guilty of affray but cleared of causing grievous bodily harm with intent over a brutal street attack on Asian student Sarfraz Najeib in Leeds.

His team-mate Lee Bowyer was cleared of causing GBH with intent and affray.

Rubeya alisema Kamati ya Utendaji ilifanya mkutano wake juzi na kuamua kumsimamisha mchezaji huyo kutokana na utovu wa nidhamu uliokithiri, na kumpiga marufuku Gabriel kuendelea kukaa katika kambi ya timu hiyo kwa alichosema mchezaji huyo kukiuka taratibu za kujiunga na timu ya Fanja FC ya Oman alikouzwa.

Alisema kikao hicho kilitoa maazimio hayo baada ya kuona Kamati ya Nidhamu iko kimya licha ya wachezaji hao kwenda kinyume na taratibu za klabu hiyo.

Alisema Obinna amekuwa akionywa mara kwa mara kutokana na vitendo vyake mbalimbali vinavyoharibu sifa ya timu, pamoja na kuwaudhi wachezaji wenzake.

Alisema Mnigeria huyo licha ya kuonywa kwa vitendo vya ulevi, kutokaa kambini, amekuwa akiwadharau viongozi wake na kutotii maelekezo anayopewa, hali ambayo imeifanya kamati hiyo kumsimamisha.

Alisema kikao hicho pia kilirejea matendo kadhaa ya mchezaji huyo ikiwemo kitendo cha kumpiga aliyekuwa kocha wa timu hiyo, Krasmir Bezinski, pamoja na kutoroka kambini na kwenda kunywa pombe katika kumbi za starehe.

Mchezaji huyo pamoja na Mnigeria mwenzake, Emeh Izechukwu, waliwahi kusimamishwa na timu hiyo mwishoni mwa mzunguko wa kwanza wa ligi kuu ya Tanzania Bara, na walisamehewa na kurejea kundini hivi karibuni.

Akimzungumzia Gabriel, Rubeya alisema licha ya mchezaji huyo kuuzwa kwa timu ya Fanja, bado ameendelea kuwepo ndani ya kambi ya timu hiyo hali ambayo ni kinyume cha taratibu.

Alisema Gabriel kwa sasa ni mali ya timu hiyo ya Oman, hivyo anatakiwa kufuata taratibu za Fanja na si Simba tena, kwa kuwa si mchezaji wao halali.

Rubeya alisema uongozi wa klabu yake umeliandikia barua Shirikisho la Mpira wa Miguu Tanzania (TFF), kuijulisha hali hiyo.

Thailand's Scorpion Queen has set a new world record - by holding a poisonous scorpion in her mouth for just over two minutes.

And Kanchana Kaetkaew, 39, may be able to hold that title for a while - it's doubtful she will see any challengers any time soon.

Kaetkaew went for the record today in a mall in Pattaya, a city on the Gulf of Thailand known for its nightlife and cabaret.

She was handed the arachnid by her husband - who, coincidentally, is known as the Centipede King - and held it in her mouth for 2mins 1.8secs before spitting it out.

The pair were married in a haunted house on Valentine's Day in 2006. The Centipede King - Bunthawee Siengwong, 31 - placed a centipede in her mouth, while she wore a white lace dress covered in scorpions.

Kaetkaew wore a similar dress - also covered in scorpions - for her record-breaking success today.

But the feat wasn't enough for the ever ambitious Kaetkaew.

Now she has gone on to begin her second world record attempt: entering a glass compound where she hopes to stay for 33 days and nights along with 5,000 scorpions.

But again, the field of competition remains thin. The previous world record 32 days was set in 2002 - by Kaetkaew herself.

Mtibwa mabingwa wapya wa kombe la Tusker

BAO la mkwaju wa penalti lililopachikwa wavuni na Rashid Gumbo katika dakika ya 60, jana lilitosha kuipa Mtibwa Sugar ubingwa wa kwanza wa Kombe la Tusker tangu kuanzishwa kwake mwaka 2001.

Ikiwa na rekodi ya kufika fainali ya michuano hiyo mara tatu, Mtibwa Sugar ya Manungu - Turiani, Morogoro, jana ilifanya kweli katika Uwanja wa Taifa jijini Dar es Salaam kwa kuwazima URA ya Uganda kwa bao 1-0.

Mechi hiyo iliyokuwa ya ushindani mkubwa kwa dakika zote 90, kipindi cha kwanza, timu zote zilionekana kucheza staili ya kushambulia na kujihami. Katika kipindi cha pili, Mtibwa Sugar walionekana kucheza soka ya kutulia zaidi, lakini URA nayo ikiongozwa na wachezaji kama Tonny Mawejje na Eric Obua, walihaha vilivyo, lakini ngome ya Mtibwa Sugar ikawa imara na kuweza kuokoa michomo ya wapinzani wao.

Katika dakika ya 60, Mtibwa Sugar walifanya shambulizi la nguvu katika lango la URA na katika heka heka hiyo, Idrissa Rajab, akachezewa rafu.

Mwamuzi wa mechi hiyo, Oden Mbaga, akaamuru mkwaju wa penalti ambao ulikwamishwa wavuni kiustadi na Gumbo akimchambua kipa wa URA, Abeid Dhaira. Bao hilo liliongeza kasi ya mchezo huo kwani Mtibwa Sugar walipata nguvu zaidi wakitaka kuongeza huku Wakusanya Kodi wa Uganda, wakipigana vilivyo kusawazisha.

Hata hivyo, ukuta wa Mtibwa Sugar ukiongozwa na Shaaban Nditi, akisaidiwa na Salum Sued, Obadia Mungusa na Chacha Marwa, ulifanya kazi ya ziada kumlinda kipa Shaaban Kado. Hadi filimbi ya mwisho, Mtibwa Sugar, walitoka kifua mbele, hivyo kutwaa ubingwa wa Tusker kwa mara ya kwanza tangu kuanzishwa kwake mwaka 2001.

Simba ndiyo imekuwa kinara kwa kutwaa mara nne huku Kagera Sugar, Yanga na Mtibwa Sugar zikitwaa mara moja kila moja. Safari hii, Simba imeambulia nafasi ya tatu baada ya kuifunga Tusker FC ya Kenya mabao 3-2 katika mechi iliyopigwa juzi kwenye Uwanja wa Taifa, jijini Dar es Salaam.

Kwa ushindi wa jana, licha ya kuiwezesha Mtibwa Sugar kutwaa ubingwa kwa mara ya kwanza, pia imefanikiwa kulipa kisasi cha kufungwa na URA katika hatua ya makundi. Aidha, kwa ushindi huo, Mtibwa Sugar iliyotokea kundi A, pamoja na timu za Yanga na URA, imejinyakulia kitita cha sh mil. 40, huku URA iliyokamata nafasi ya pili, ikipata sh mil. 20.

Akizungumza baada ya mechi ya jana, Kocha Mkuu wa Mtibwa Sugar, Salum Mayanga, alisema anamshukuru Mwenyezi Mungu kwa kuijalia timu yake kufika fainali kwa mara ya tatu na kutwaa ubingwa kwa mara ya kwanza.

Mayanga aliyekuwa na timu hiyo tangu ikiwa Ligi Daraja la Tatu wakati huo akiwa mchezaji, alisema mafanikio hayo ni faraja kubwa kwa benchi la ufundi, wachezaji hadi viongozi wa timu hiyo.

“Namshuru Mwenyezi Mungu kwa mafanikio haya makubwa, kwanza kufika fainali ya michuano hii mara ya tatu, pia kutuwezesha kutwaa ubingwa… haya ni mafanikio makubwa kwetu,” alisema Mayanga. Alisema, mafanikio hayo si fahari kwa Mtibwa Sugar pekee, bali kwa Watanzania wote na anajisikia kuwatendea haki Watanzania wote. “Najisikia kuwatendea haki Watanzania wote,” alisema kocha huyo na kuongeza kuwa anashukuru kwamba, ametimiza ndoto ya kufanya vizuri katika michuano hiyo.

Naye Gumbo, mfungaji wa bao pekee lililopeleka ubingwa katika viunga vya mashamba ya miwa ya Manungu, alisema anajisikia furaha kubwa timu yao kutwaa ubingwa akisema ni juhudi ya wachezaji wote na benchi la ufundi.

Mara ya mwisho Mtibwa Sugar kupata mafanikio makubwa, ilikuwa mwaka 2000, walipotwaa ubingwa wa Bara ukiwa ni wa pili kwani mara ya kwanza ilikuwa ni mwaka 1999. Mtibwa Sugar: Shaaban Kado, Obadia Mungusa, Chacha Marwa, Salum Sued, Shaaban Nditi, Uhuru Selemani, Rashid Gumbo, Abdallah Juma/Yusuph Mgwao, Omar Matuta/Abdulhalim Amour, David Mwantobe/Soud Abdallah.

Mbali ya medali, Mtibwa Sugar wamekabidhiwa mfano wa hundi ya sh mil. 40 huku wachezaji wa URA wakivikwa medali za fedha na kukabidhiwa kombe dogo na mfano wa hundi ya sh mil. 20 huku Simba wakipewa hundi ya sh mil. 10.

Zawadi nyingine zilizotolewa na wadhamini wa michuano hiyo, Kampuni ya Bia Tanzania (TBL), ni Kombe kwa timu yenye nidhamu, ambayo ilikwenda kwa timu ya Simba na kitita cha sh mil. 2.

Aidha, wachezaji Tonny Mawejje wa URA ya Uganda na Mussa Hassan Mgosi, wameibuka kuwa wafungaji bora wa michuano hiyo wakifunga mabao mawili kila mmoja, hivyo kulamba kiasi cha sh mil moja kila mmoja.

Mbali ya wapenzi na mashabiki kushuhudia burudani ya soka, pia walisindikizwa na burudani ya muziki kutoka kwa Tanzania One Theatre (TOT), waliotumbuiza kuanzia mwanzo hadi mwisho wa mechi hiyo.

Michuano hiyo, ilishindanisha timu sita; ambazo ni Yanga, Simba, Mtibwa Sugar, Prisons, Tusker FC ya Kenya na URA ya Uganda.

ZFA yatangaza kikosi cha Karume Boys

Chama cha Soka Zanzibar (ZFA), kimetangaza majina ya wachezaji wanaounda kikosi cha Karume Boys kinachokwenda kushiriki michuano ya Kombe la Chalenji kwa nchi za Afrika Mashariki na Kati inayotarajia kuanza Jumatano ijayo Kampala, Uganda.

Kwa mujibu wa msemaji wa ZFA, Maulid Hamad Maulid alisema kikosi hicho kinatarajia kuondoka Jumatatu saa sita mchana kuelekea Uganda. Aliwataja wachezaji hao kuwa ni Mohamed Abdalla, Said Nassor, Haji Abdi, Nadir Haroub (nahodha msaidizi), Ismail Khamis, Haji Ramadhan, Ramadhan Khamisi, Suleiman Kassim na Mohamed Seif.

Maulid aliwataja wengine kuwa ni nahodha wa timu hiyo, Abdi Kassim, Ali Hamza, Juma Mohamed, Ali Mussa, Aggrey Morris, Abdullah Seif, Omar Ali, Abdulghan Gulam, Zubeir Juma na Amour Suleiman.

Alisema timu hiyo itaongozwa na Mkuu wa Msafara Ally Suleiman Shihata, Suleiman Amour ambaye ni Makamu wa Rais ZFA-Pemba, Masoud Atai (ZFA), Badr-El-Din (kocha mkuu), Ramadhan Bundala (kocha msaidizi), Ally Ferej Tamim (mjumbe wa Cecafa) na Makame Mpoma (mwamuzi msaidizi-Cecafa).

Maulid alisema kuwa kikosi cha Karume Boys kinatarajia kuagwa na kukabidhiwa bendera leo saa nne kwenye ofisi za ZFA. Karume Boys imepangwa kundi moja na ndugu zao, Tanzania bara, Somalia, Rwanda na wenyeji Uganda na inatarajia kuanza kampeni zake Januari 1, mwakani kwa kucheza na Somalia.

Ratiba ya CHAN yatoka, Tanzania yapangwa kundi A

Katika ratiba hiyo inaonesha wenyeji Ivory Coast watafungua dimba kwenye michuano hiyo ya mwanzo ya Afrika kwa wachezaji wa ndani (CHAN) kwa kupambana na Zambia mjini Abidjan siku ya tarehe 22 Februari.

Timu hizo ambazo zipo kwenye kundi A zimepangwa kwenye ufunguzi wa mashindano hayo utakaofanyika kwenye mji mkuu wa Ivory Coast mjini Abidjan.

Timu nyengine ambazo zimo kwenye kundi hilo la A ambalo mechi zake zitakuwa kwenye mji huo wa Abidjan ni Senegal na Tanzania.

Kundi B litakuwa na timu za Ghana, Zimbabwe, Libya na DR Congo.

Kundi hili la B mechi zake zitafanyika kwenye mji wa Bouake ambao ni mji wa pili kwa ukubwa nchini Ivory Coast.

CHAN ni mashindano mapya yalioanzishwa na CAF kwa ajili ya wachezaji wanaocheza soka kwenye nchi zao tu.

Maelfu wamuaga Rais Lansana

Maelfu ya watu wamehudhuria mazishi ya rais wa Guinea Lansana Conte, ambaye aliongoza taifa hilo kwa miaka zaidi ya 20.

Mazishi yamefanyika huku viongozi waliofanya mapinduzi wakijitahidi kutafuta kutambulika kimataifa.

Jeneza la Bw. Conte lilipelekwa katika bunge la nchi hiyo, ambapo marais kadhaa wakiwemo wa Sierra Leone, Liberia, Ivory Coast, Guinea Bissau na wawakilishi kutoka Umoja wa Afrika wamehudhuria sala maalum.

Hata hivyo kiongozi wa mapinduzi Kapteni Camara hakuonekana.

Wakati huohuo, serikali ya Ufaransa imewataka viongozi wapya nchini Guinea kuandaa uchaguzi ulio huru na wa haki katika kipinddi cha miezi 6, na sio ifikapo mwisho wa mwaka 2010, kama alivyosema kiongozi wa mapnduzi, Kapteni Camara.

Msemaji wa wizara ya mambo ya nje wa Ufaransa mjini Paris amesema wananchi wa Guinea wanatakiwa kuwa huru kuchagua wanayemtaka.

Mawaziri 'wajisalimisha' Guinea

Wanajeshi nchini Guinea waliofanya mapinduzi mapema wiki hii wanaonekana kuimarisha udhibiti katika madaraka.

Mawaziri, ambao ni raia ikiwa ni pamoja na waziri mkuu Ahmed Tidiane Souare wamefika katika kituo cha kijeshi mjini Conakry, kufuatia amri iliyotolewa na kiongozi wa mapinduzi Kapteni Moussa Dadis Camara.

Mawaziri hao waliondoka katika kituo hicho baada ya kuzungumza na wanajeshi.

Mwandishi wa BBC wa Afrika Magharibi anasema mapinduzi hayo, yaliyotokea baada ya kifo cha rais Lansana Conte siku ya Jumatatu, yamepokelewa vizuri na baadhi ya watu nchini Guinea waliokuwa wamechoshwa na utawala wa kimamlaka.

Umoja wa Afrika umelaani mapinduzi hayo, huku umoja wa kiuchumi wa nchi za Afrika Magharibi ukitarajiwa kupeleka wajumbe wake huko siku ya Jumatatu.

Wave of the future: The dancing spider-like cruiser that can take 12 people on a 5,000-mile journey

It might look like something out of a James Bond film but this is could be the ocean cruiser of the future.

The WAM-V, or Wave Adaptive Modular Vessel, blasts along on two giant inflatable tubes which, according to its designers, let it 'dance' with the waves.

Powered by twin diesel engines, the spider-like craft can be crewed by just two people as it tackles voyages of up to 5,000 miles.

And best of all, designers claim the boat, nicknamed Proteus, is so light that its fuel consumption is 'significantly lower' than other boats of a similar size.

The catamaran has been built by US-based Marine Advanced Research Inc to carry out studies of the world's oceans.

But designers say the vessel could, in the future, be used as a luxury cruiser, a scuba diving boat or a passenger ship for up to 12 people.

They say they have already designed, manufactured and tested 8ft radio-controlled models and a 50ft personal craft as well as the 100ft Proteus.

A spokesman for the group said: 'The WAM-V is a new class of watercraft based on a patented technology that delivers a radically new seagoing experience.

'These ultralight flexible catamarans are designed to allow for a variety of applications and to fit the requirements of specific users, missions or projects.

'Unlike conventional boats, the hulls of a WAM-V conform to the surface of the water.

'A WAM-V does not push, slap or pierce the waves - she utilizes flexibility to adapt her structure and shape to the water surface.

'Instead of forcing the water to conform to the hull, she gives and adjusts. She dances with the waves.'

The spokesman said the WAM-V could even be used for watersports, adding: 'Your WAM-V could be the means to a new extreme sport experience.'

The main structure of the boat is constructed of titanium and aluminium and is connected to the twin hulls by ball joints fitted with springs and shock absorbers.

Two engine pods, containing the propellors and ancillary systems, are fastened to the hulls with special hinges that keep the propellers in the water at all times.

Despite displacing 12 tons when carrying its full load of 2,000 gallons of fuel, designers claim it handles like 'a small powerboat'.

Mtibwa yaingia fainali kombe la Tusker

Timu ya Mtibwa Sugar imewaondolea aibu Watanzania baada ya kutinga fainali ya Kombe la Tusker kwa kuwachapa Tusker ya Kenya kwa mabao 2-1 katika mechi ya nusu fainali.

Ushindi katika mechi hiyo ya nusu fainali ya pili iliyofanyika kwenye Uwanja wa Taifa Dar es Salaam jana, umeiwezesha Mtibwa kuitoa kimasomaso Tanzania baada ya mabingwa watetezi Yanga na Simba waliopewa nafasi kubwa kutolewa mapema.

Mtibwa watakutana na timu ya Mamlaka ya Mapato (URA) ya Uganda keshokutwa katika mchezo wa fainali. Yanga walikuwa wa kwanza kuaga michuano hiyo kwa kura katika hatua ya makundi, wakati Simba walilala kwa mabao 2-1 dhidi ya URA katika mechi ya nusu fainali ya kwanza juzi.

Mtibwa kutoka Turiani Morogoro, walikuwa wa kwanza kuliona lango la wapinzani wao baada ya David Mwantobe kuachia shuti kali dakika ya 28. Noah Obichi aliisawazishia Tusker dakika ya 38 kwa njia ya penalti. Dakika ya 42 kipa wa Mtibwa, Shaaban Kado alifanya kazi ya ziada kuokoa hatari kwenye lango lake na kuwanyima wapinzani wao bao la kuongoza.

Hali hiyo ilifanya hadi mapumziko timu hizo kuwa sare ya bao 1-1 katika mchezo huo mkali. Kipindi cha pili kilianza kwa kasi zaidi huku kila timu ikiwania ushindi, lakini bahati iliangukia kwa Mtibwa dakika ya 48 baada ya Salum Swedi kuunganisha kwa kichwa mpira wa adhabu ndogo uliochongwa na Uhuru Selemani.

Vijana hao wa Turiani wamepata nafasi ya kulipa kisasa kwa URA ambao waliwachapa kwa bao 1-0 katika mchezo wa ufunguzi wa michuano hiyo Desemba 15. Matokeo hayo yanaonyesha kundi A lilikuwa gumu zaidi kutokana na fainali kukutanisha timu zote za kundi hilo. Akizungumza baada ya mechi ya jana Kocha wa Mtibwa, Salim Mayanga alisema mchezo ulikuwa mgumu tofauti na walivyotegemea.

“Hatukutegemea upinzani mkali kama ilivyokuwa, sasa tutajipanga vizuri kwa ajili ya fainali,” alisema Mayanga. Naye kocha wa Tusker, James Nandwe alisema mchezo ulikuwa mgumu na kila mtu alikuwa akitafuta nafasi lakini wenzao walizitumia vyema. Nandwe alisema Mtibwa wamestahili kushinda kwani wameonyesha mchezo mzuri na kuimwagia sifa timu hiyo.

Kocha huyo alisema anajiandaa kukutana na Simba katika mechi ya kutafuta mshindi wa tatu itakayofanyika kesho kwenye uwanja huo na kuongeza kuwa atafanya mabadiliko kwa wachezaji kadhaa kwenye kikosi chake. Hata hivyo, kocha huyo alimlalamikia mwamuzi Mbaga kwa kutoongeza muda wa takribani dakika nne ambazo mchezo ulisitishwa kutokana na kipa wa Mtibwa, Shaaban Kado kuumia.

'Kiongozi' wa Guinea atajwa

Majeshi yaliyochukua uongozi nchini Guinea yamemtaja Kapteni Moussa Dadis Camara kuwa ndiye kiongozi wa utawala wa kijeshi, huku amri ya kutotembea usiku ikitangazwa pia.

Wakati huohuo maafisa wa kijeshi waliochukua madaraka nchini Guinea siku ya Jumatatu wamewatuhumu baadhi ya maafisa wa kijeshi wanaotii serikali iliyokuwa madarakani, kwa kuingiza mamluki nchini humo.

Wamesema wale wanaohusika na kuingiza majeshi kutoka nje ya nchi watawajibika kwa lolote litakalotokea.

Viongozi wa mapinduzi, waliochukua madaraka saa chache baada ya rais wa nchi hiyo Lansana Conte kufariki dunia, wameahidi kuandaa uchaguzi katika kipindi cha miaka miwili.

Katika matangazo ya televisheni ya taifa, wametaka wananchi wa Guinea kutoingia mitaani na kufanya maandamano.

Umoja wa Afrika, ambao umelaani mapinduzi hayo, unafanya mkutano wa dharura kujadili yanayotokea Guinea.

Death-plunge Muslim model 'tormented by womanising husband who had wed THREE times before'

The family of the model who plunged to her death from the balcony of a luxury apartment yesterday insisted she would not have killed herself.

They said Sahar Daftary, a Londoner who was crowned last year's Miss Face of Asia, had 'everything to live for'.

But they also claimed her marriage had been a sham and her husband was a womaniser.

Miss Daftary, who was due to turn 24 tomorrow, married 33-year-old businessman Rashid Jamil in a lavish ceremony 12 months ago and left her job as a personal shopper at Harrods.

However her life fell apart after she discovered that he had allegedly been married three times before and still had a wife and two children, relatives revealed yesterday.

Meanwhile his second wife, a lawyer by whom he has an 11-year-old daughter, said she had left the former curry house boss because of his drinking and womanising.

It is also unclear whether Mr Jamil's third marriage was ever legally recognised under English law.

Miss Daftary, who had been planning to fly to Dubai with friends for New Year's Eve, had tried to rebuild her life, recently starting studies for an accountancy degree.

Mr Jamil led the life of a wealthy entrepreneur but was behind a string of failed businesses and lived in a rented flat.

He was arrested on suspicion of murder after she plunged to her death from his 12th floor waterside apartment at the weekend but was later released on bail.

It is understood that evidence so far points to her death being suicide or a tragic accident.

It also emerged that a pornographic video clip apparently featuring Miss Daftary and an unnamed man had recently been posted on a publicly-accessible website.

She was said to have feared the footage would damage her career, and police are expected to examine whether somebody had made it public out of spite.

Yesterday Miss Daftary's anguished family, who live in London but are originally from Afghanistan, said they are convinced she wouldn't have taken her own life.

Miss Daftary's mother Anisa, a widow, has been left distraught by her daughter's death.

Sahar's brother-in-law Joe Karim said: 'She would never commit suicide. It was against everything she believed in. She had everything to live for. She was a beautiful, intelligent, religious woman.'

Miss Daftary's sister, Mariya Massumi, said: 'Sahar did not have a new partner but she had moved on with her life. She had started studying and stopped modelling. She had washed her hands of Rashid.'

The family released photographs of the Islamic ceremony at which Miss Daftary married Mr Jamil in December last year in front of 200 family and friends at the Holiday Inn near her home in Brentford, West London.

They show the couple looking happy at the engagement party followed by the exchange of rings and vows and cutting of a four-tier cake in front of guests and an imam, who oversaw the ceremony.

Sahar wore a floral dress before changing into a more traditional green dress for the wedding ceremony.

But crucially, the union was not registered with the authorities, claim her family. The couple had met through her modelling work, which often took her to fashion shows in Manchester.

The newlyweds initially divided their time between London and his apartment in Salford Quays, near Manchester United's Old Trafford ground.

But within a matter of weeks, Miss Daftary discovered that her ' husband' in fact already had a 'wife' in Manchester, 29-year-old Narissa Amjad, a marketing executive who was expecting their second child.

'When the wife phoned we didn't believe her,' said Mrs Massumi. 'She phoned every day. Eventually we went up to Manchester to ask him what was going on. His wife was there and his sister-in-law.

'He said in front of his wife that he wanted to be with Sahar. He had told Sahar that his wife was only with him for the money.'

Mr Jamil is thought to have first undergone an arranged marriage in Pakistan which ended in divorce. He then married lawyer Sebina Malik in Manchester in an officially recognised wedding. They had a daughter, but again the couple divorced.

With Narissa Amjad he had a boy, now four, and a girl, one. It is not known whether his marriage to Miss Amjad was registered officially or just recognised in the form of an Islamic ceremony, but in the eyes of Miss Daftary's family he is guilty of bigamy.

Their suspicions were first aroused when his parents did not turn up to the Holiday Inn ceremony - he claimed they were against the wedding because she was an Afghan - and again when he cancelled an appointment to register the marriage.

Despite the revelations of his allegedly secret past, Miss Daftary initially agreed to move to Salford Quays with him, but when it became apparent that he was staying with his 'wife', she decided to finish the relationship.

Having quit her job helping wealthy Arab shoppers at Harrods she enrolled in an accountancy and finance degree at Thames Valley University near her home.

'Remembering Princess Sahar'

Her sister added: 'Sahar had moved on. Last month Rashid tried to get back together with her. He offered to buy my sister a house and he asked her to live with him. But she told him she didn't want his money.'

At the weekend she had agreed to travel to Manchester to do the make-up for a fashion show at an Indian restaurant.

Friends have told her family that they had a row but that she then agreed to go to his £250,000 rented apartment at the NV Buildings on Saturday evening after he offered to give her an Islamic divorce.

Shortly afterwards, police received a call from Mr Jamil requesting assistance. By the time they got there she had suffered fatal injuries after her 150ft fall.

A man at his apartment refused to answer the door to the Daily Mail yesterday. Earlier Mr Jamil had been seen leaving a red rose next to the spot where Miss Daftary landed.

Last night Mr Jamil's ex-wife Sebina Malik revealed that he had conducted a secret affair with Narissa while still married to her.

And she did not divorce him until July last year, long after his Islamic wedding to Narissa and just a few months before the ill-fated ceremony with Sahar, meaning the three 'marriages' almost overlapped.

She and Mr Jamil were childhood sweethearts, marrying in 1996.

Miss Malik, who lives near his parents in Rochdale, said: 'People would have said we were the perfect couple. But four or five years after the marriage, he began drinking and began his affairs and things went downhill after that.

'He always had two women on the go. He would never be faithful to just one woman. Two girls turned up at my house, knocking on the door claiming they were pregnant. They said he'd promised to marry them and divorce me.'

She said he eventually left her for Miss Amjad but then became obsessed with Miss Dafarty.

'For him to be with a model, a girl like that, was beyond his dreams. She was a young, hot chick from London. He lavished her with money and jewels.'

She said she didn't believe he was responsible for her death. 'It could have been an accident,' she said. 'I think that it could be possible she has committed suicide.'

A police source said: 'Witnesses have said there was no shouting or ranting - just a single scream. It is being looked at as either suicide or a horrible accident.'

Her friend, Afrah Sami, said: 'We are all shocked and devastated. Sahar was very beautiful - she loved life and she was always the centre of the party.'

Simba yafungasha virago

Mara baada ya mpira kumalizika mashabiki wa Yanga walianza kuimba kwa nguvu wimbo maarufu wa `parapanda inalia`.

Hata hivyo, Simba ilipoteza mchezo huo kutokana na makosa ya kizembe ya mabeki wake waliokuwa wakiacha mpira na kuwahiwa na washambuliaji wa URA.

Talib alidai timu yake baada ya kupata bao la kuongoza ilijisahau na kuanza kushambulia bila ya kujihami vizuri.

Alieleza kuwa timu yake ilipoteza umakini, ambapo pasi zao nyingi zilikuwa zinanaswa na wapinzani wao.

Kocha wa URA, Moses Basena alisema timu ilistahili kushinda kutokana na kucheza soka ya juu.

Basena alisema, hata hivyo, iliathiriwa na joto kutokana na mchezo huo kuanza saa tisa na nusu alasiri.

Ivo hayumo Chalenji

Kocha Mkuu wa timu ya taifa, Taifa Stars na timu ya Tanzania Bara, Kilimanjaro Stars, Marcio Maximo, `amemtosa` aliyekuwa kipa wake namba moja kwenye kikosi cha timu hiyo, Ivo Mapunda, anayechezea St.George ya Ethiopia.

Maximo, toka achukue jukumu la kukinoa kikosi cha Stars miaka miwili iliyopita alikuwa akimuita Ivo mara kwa mara kwenye kikosi chake, ambapo hii ni mara yake ya kwanza kumuacha kipa huyo kwenye kikosi chake kinachotarajia kushiriki kwenye michuano ya kuwania Kombe la Chalenji, iliyopangwa kuanza mwishoni mwa mwezi huu nchini Uganda.

Awali, Maximo alimuacha Ivo, baada ya kumjumuisha kwenye kikosi chake kilichokuwa kikijiandaa na mchezo wa kirafiki wa kimataifa dhidi ya timu ya taifa ya Msumbiji,uliochezwa jijini Dar es Salaam, ambapo kipa huyo kwa mara ya kwanza alishindwa kuungana na wenzake kambini bila taarifa yeyote kitendo kilichomfanya Maximo kuchukua hatua ya kumpa nafasi Shaban Dihile kama kipa wa kwanza.

Hata hivyo, Katibu Mkuu wa Shirikisho la soka la Afrika Mashariki na Kati (CECAFA), Nicolaus Musonye juzi lilitoa orodha ya wachezaji wa Kilimanjaro Stars na jina la Ivo lilikuwemo.

Akizungumza na Nipashe jana, Maximo alisema kuwa ameamua kumuacha Ivo kwenye kikosi chake hicho kutokana na kutojua mwenendo wa mchezaji huyo kwa sasa.

Aidha, Maximo amemuita kwenye kikosi chake mchezaji wa kimataifa anayecheza soka la kulipwa nchini Kuwait, Danny Mrwanda, ambapo alisema lengo la kumuita Mrwanda ni kutaka kukiongozea nguvu kikosi cha Kilimanjaro.

Alisema Mrwanda anayo haki ya kulitumikia taifa lake kwenye michuano hiyo kutokana na kutokuwepo kwa kipengele kinachomzuia mchezaji wa kimataifa kucheza, ambapo alisema kuwa wakati wowote kuanzia leo mchezaji huyo atatua nchini.

Maximo, anayeondoka nchini leo kwenda Ivory Coast, kushiriki katika zoezi la upangaji wa ratiba ya michuano ya Afrika kwa wachezaji wanaocheza ligi za nyumbani, ameteua jumla ya wachezaji 20, watakaoelekea Uganda, Jumanne ijayo kushiriki michuano hiyo.

Aliwataja wachezaji aliowachagua kuwa ni Shaban Dihile, Deo Mushi, Shadrack Nsajigwa, Kelvin Yondan, Salum Swed, Meshack Abel,Amir Maftah, Juma Jabu, Godfrey Bony, Shaban Nditi, Nurdin Bakar, Nizar Khalfan,Athuman Idd, Haruna Moshi, Kigi Makassy, Henry Joseph, Mrisho Ngasa, Musa Mgosi, Jerry Tegete na Danny Mrwanda.

Maximo, aliongeza kuwa pamoja na kukosa muda wa kutosha wa maandalizi ana uhakika wa kufanya vizuri, ambapo pia ataitumia michuano hiyo kwa ajili ya maandalizi ya michuano ya Ivory Coast, itakayofanyika mwishoni mwa mwezi Februari mwaka 2009.

Wanajeshi wachukua nchi Guinea

Taarifa ya jeshi la Guinea imesema serikali imevunjwa baada ya kifo cha rais Lansana Conte.

Afisa mmoja wa kijeshi amesema kupitia redio ya taifa kuwa kutakuwa na baraza la utawala litakalohusisha raia na wanajeshi.

Umoja wa Ulaya umelaani hatua hiyo.

Inasemekana mjini Conakry mizinga imeonekana ikiranda katika mitaa ya mji huo.

Lakini waziri mkuu wa Guinea Ahmed Tidiane Souare amesema serikali haijavunjwa na kuwa 'inaendelea kufanya kazi kama kawaida'.

Spika wa bunge la nchi hiyo Aboubacar Soumpare, ambaye ni mrithi wa rais kwa mujibu wa katiba, ameiambia televisheni moja ya Ufaransa kuwa kuna jaribio la uasi, lakini hadhani kama wanajeshi wote wanaunga mkono hatua hiyo.

Spika huyo awali alitangaza kifo cha rais Conte aliyetawala taifa hilo la Magharibi mwa Afrika kwa miaka 24.

Alisema alifariki kutokana na 'ugonjwa wa muda mrefu'.

Siku 40 za maombolezo zimetangazwa.

Sababu ya kifo cha rais huyo bado haijajulikana lakini rais Conte mwenye umri wa miaka 74 alikuwa mvutaji sigara na kusumbuliwa na maradhi ya kisukari na vilevile inaaminiwa alikuwa na saratani ya damu.
