Teaming her new dark locks with a figure-hugging floral Oscar de la Renta strapless dress, Scarlett outshone Jennifer Aniston, who went for an uninspired Burberry trouser suit in her signature colour black.
Explaining her recent change from her usual blonde shade, the 24-year-old said: 'It's part of being a girl. We get to change up our thing and confuse everybody.'

The two women joined their co-stars Drew Barrymore, Ginnifer Goodwin and Jennifer Connelly at the star-studded screening of the romantic comedy at the Grauman's Chinese Theater in Hollywood.
Clearly wanting to stand out from each other, all five women went for dramatically different fashion styles.
In the sexiest outfit of the night, Oscar winner Connelly, 38, showed off her long legs in a green Balmain mini-dress.
Giving a nod to the trend for bondage-style shoes, Connelly wore a £1,335 pair of Balmain studded crystal high-heels sandals - the same worn by Bond girl Gemma Arterton at the London premiere of Quantum Of Solace last year.
Drew, 33, also went for high-fashion with a strapless black mini-dress with oversized bow.
Walk The Line star Ginnifer, 30, looked short and sweet in a burnt orange mini-dress and matching strappy sandals.
The premiere marked one of Ginnifer's first public appearances since she split from American Pie actor Chris Klein - ex-fiance of Katie Holmes - in December.
Joining Ginnifer as the only two single stars was Drew, who is revelling in her single status after years of monogamy.
Despite splitting from her He's Just Not That Into You co-star Justin Long (who also attended last night) in July, the couple remain on good terms and have been spotted chatting to each other on the publicity round for the movie.

Statement style: Drew Barrymore opted for this season's must-have, an oversized bow, while Jennifer Connelly showed off her pins in a green Balmain mini-dress
Also at the screening were the male stars Ben Affleck, Kevin Connolly and Bradley Cooper.
With so many stars of the ensemble piece at the premiere, Connelly, Aniston and Scarlett's partners chose to stay away.
Connelly has been married to English actor Paul Bettany for five years, while Scarlett wed in September.
Silencing recent reports Aniston, 39, has split from John Mayer, the musician has been taking to his Twitter online messaging service to joke about their relationship.

Writing two days ago, he said: 'Welding an engagement ring for my girlfriend.'
On Sunday, the couple spent the day together watching the American Football final at a friend's Super Bowl party in Los Angeles.
As well as a new film coming out this week, Aniston is gearing up to mark her 40th birthday next Wednesday.
He's Just Not That Into You is based on the self-help guide by Greg Behrendt and Liz Tuccillo, which inspired an episode of Sex And The City.
The film tells the story of a group of twenty and thirtysomethings living in Baltimore, whose complicated love lives interlink and the female characters spend their time trying to interpret what their men are thinking.
The film is set for release in the UK this weekend.
