Simba ilipangwa hivi: Deo Bonventure, Juma Jabu, Kevin Yondan, Henry Joseph, Juma Nyoso, Said Nassor, Jabir Aziz, Adam Kingwande/Obinna, Mgosi na Nico Nyagawa.

Polisi Morogoro: Benjamin Haule, Nahoda Bakari, Haji Mbelwa, Juma Mkeketa/Tofaya Daud, Seleman Kissi, Adam Juma, Delta Thomas, Fred Agai/Thobias John, Mokati Lambos/Ally Moshi, Sammy Kessy na Nico Nabipe.

King Kong-ed out: Liesel, Budapest's oldest gorilla, goes under the knife

The patient may not have been in any condition to appreciate it, but the surgical team treated her as carefully as a newborn baby.

Unlike a newborn baby, however, it took three vets to lift her on to the operating table.

And to ensure there was no chance of Liesel the lowland gorilla waking up inconveniently they made sure the 32-year-old was given a hefty anaesthetic.

The pain! Doctors and veterinarians lift Liesel onto the operating table

Heavy! Veterinarians lift Liesel onto the operating table

Once she was under and flat on her back, the operation proceeded smoothly, with Liesel fast asleep.

The three-hour procedure was to remove a tumour in her uterus and was carried out in Budapest, Hungary.

Budapest Zoo spokesman said that when Liesel came to them in 1989 from Germany's Frankfurt Zoo, she may have a malignant tumour on her right ovary, and it was now a danger to her.

Liesel

Surgeons remove the tumour - Liesel will be kept away from the other gorillas in the zoo for at least a week

Liesel, whose name is a short version of Elizabeth popular in the 17th century, is the oldest gorilla in the Eastern European country and the operation was a first for its veterinarians.

She will be kept under observation and apart from the rest of gorillas at the zoo for about a week.

More exams will be needed to determine why the mother of three - Dango, Gorka and Ebobo - has not given birth since 2000.

Most kinds of lowland gorillas are critically endangered, although a census of western lowland gorillas, which are found in the northern part of the Republic of Congo, found populations are doing much better than anyone expected.

The census found 125,000 of the apes alive and well in two adjacent areas of the Congo in an area covering 47,000 sq km.

A census in the 1980s estimated that about 100,000 remained, but numbers were since thought to have halved.

Baller on Baller: Hargreaves at Suns Game

Owen Hargreaves was spotted at the Denver Nuggets/Phoenix Suns game in Colorado (where he is getting his second knee surgery at the Steadman-Hawkins Clinic in Vail) last night.

Apparently he was sitting with former Suns point guard, Rex Chapman (don’t bother looking him up… not cute). Hargreaves is yet another footballer who adores the game of basketball, and more specifically thee Phoenix Suns. (Didier Drogba is a Boston Celtics fan, while John Terry and David Beckham prefer the Los Angeles Lakers.) But the Man United star has taken his obsession a step farther by writing a blog about the Suns. Alas, the media were unaware that they had an internationally renowned athlete in their midst. There are no pictures, and the only way we know that he was in fact there, was that the cameras were more intrigued by the Suns alum sitting next to him. Tisk tisk paps, get on it!

Owen is close friends with Steve Nash (pictured above), a player for the Suns, but also a devout Tottenham Hotspurs fan. Interesting.

Who's sending Amy head over heels? Winehouse is put through gymnastic workout on the rings

The zest for life that Amy Winehouse has displayed during her spell in the Caribbean seems to increase every day.

After revealing herself to be a bit of a dab hand on a trapeze, the singer tried out another piece of exercise equipment during her Caribbean workout.

Amy, who is on holiday in St Lucia, took to the gymnastic rings the help of an instructor.

Dressed in a pair of denim shorts and red cropped top, she swung herself up into the air and fearlessly tried out some leg exercises as she hung upside down.

She also attempted some floor exercises, throwing some impressive shapes on the mats.

The limber singer tried a number of yoga-style stretches, and her instructor even helped her through a tricky handstand.

Despite kicking off the day with the best of intentions, however, it apparently goes downhill from there.

According to the Sun, she begins drinking alcohol at lunchtime, and continues hitting the bottle well into the evening.

Amy has taken to grabbing people's drinks and begging guests to order alcohol for her after hotel staff refused to serve the singer, it is reported.

One source said: ‘We keep catching her crawling past bars, or hiding behind chairs. She grabs guests’ drinks and runs off, like a squirrel with a nut.’

And guests are said to be baffled by her mood swings, watching the 25-year-old go from being friendly one to minute to 'throwing things and swearing her head off the next'.

The Back to Black singer recently revealed she was having the time of her life during her extended stay on the paradise island.

While her jailbird husband Blake Fielder-Civil has instructed his lawyer to begin divorce proceedings, Amy has been pictured kissing new hunk Josh Bowman, 21, who has since left the resort.

Kilimanjaro Stars yafungwa, yaingia nusu fainali

Kilimanjaro Stars:Deo Bonaventura, Shadrack Nsajigwa, Juma Jabu, Said Sued, Kelvin Yondani, Henry Joseph (Nurdin Bakari dk.62), Mrisho Ngassa (Mussa Hassan `Mgosi\' dk.77), Godfrey Bonny, Danny Mrwanda, Haruna Moshi `Boban\'(Nizar Khalfan dk.86) na Athumani Iddi `Chuji`.

Iker Casillas Rumoured to Snag New Model "Friend"

It seems Iker was seen getting cozy with Spanish model, Ariadne Artiles on New Year's Eve. Artiles is recently divorced from Spanish Superbike racer, Fonsi Nieto. (Who I shall dub "Tiny Biker." I would divorce him too if I couldn't wear my cute new Louboutin pumps in fear of being taller than him. And who keeps the name "Fonsi" anyway. Seriously.)

Yeah she's gorgeous model, blah blah blah. No pictorial evidence has been provided yet, but just give it time.

Kilimanjaro Stars yaifunga Rwanda 2-0

Miami nice: Nadine Coyle soaks up the sun poolside in Florida

While her bandmates are freezing in Britain's frosty weather, Nadine Coyle showed she had the right idea as she lapped up the sun in Miami.

The Girls Aloud singer revealed her stunning figure as she lay poolside in a sexy black bikini.

Top up: Girls Aloud singer Nadine Coyle enjoys a day out in the Miami sun

The 23-year-old shared jokes with friends after stepping out with her boyfriend Jason Bell for a spot of lunch and relaxation.

She was seen laughing with her companions while munching on a sandwich and taking dips in the pool.

But while Nadine peeled off to top up her tan, Jason stayed in the shade and remained covered-up.

New York-based Bell has been quoted saying: 'I can live anywhere as I’ve started my own finance company,’ fuelling rumours that the pair are planning on moving in together.

Earlier in the week the star was seen literally being swept off her feet by her other half.

Bell gallantly lifted the lithe star over a puddle so she didn't get her feet wet as they crossed the road.

She was wearing a see-through kaftan at the time and revealed a little more than she bargained for, a rare fashion faux pas for the Derry-born stunner.

Jermain Defoe Returns to Tottenham

Looking more like a cockney pimp than a footballer, Defoe returned to White Hart Lane to greet fans and wave his hands about in a welcoming manner. The agent-less baller negotiated the £15m transfer apparently, seeing that he's currently having issues with his representation.

I'm assuming he returned to London because he ran out of women to bone date in Portsmouth. God knows, London is full of women pretty and stupid enough to hook up with the 2008 Man-Ho of the Year.

Mtibwa Sugar yaingia matatani

Europe plunged into energy crisis as Russia cuts off gas supply

  • Gas prices rise in London
  • Bulgaria reaches 'crisis' point

Russia cut gas exports to Europe by 60 per cent today, plunging the continent into an energy crisis 'within hours' as a dispute with Ukraine escalated.

Six countries reported a complete shutoff of Russian gas shipped via Ukraine today, in a sharp escalation of a struggle over energy that threatens Europe as winter sets in.

Bulgaria, Greece, Macedonia, Romania, Croatia and Turkey all reported a halt in gas shipments from Russia through Ukraine. Croatia said it was temporarily reducing supplies to industrial customers while Bulgaria said it had enough gas for only 'for a few days' and was in a 'crisis situation'.

putin

Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin, left, speaks to Gazprom chairman Alexei Miller during a meeting yesterday

The European Union in Brussels called the sudden cutoff to some of its member countries 'completely unacceptable.'

The EU demanded the two sides reopen talks as the row immediately sparked fears of gas supply shortages and rising energy prices in the UK.

The UK is suffering one of its coldest nights this century with temperatures plunging to as low as -10C.

Though Britain is one of Gazprom's largest importers - relying on the company for some 16 per cent of consumption in 2007, according to The Times - the gas is supplied through a complicated swap scheme that means supplies themselves may not be affected.

Prices, on the other hand, rose during trading in London today.

The dispute, coupled with Israel's military operation in Gaza, also pushed oil up to a three-week high of $49.91 in New York yesterday. Russia, whose main export is oil, stands to benefit for a recovery in prices.

'Without prior warning and in clear contradiction with the reassurances given by the highest Russian and Ukrainian authorities to the European Union, gas supplies to some EU member states have been substantially cut,' the EU said in a statement.

'The Czech EU Presidency and the European Commission demand that gas supplies be restored immediately to the EU and that the two parties resume negotiations at once with a view to a definitive settlement of their bilateral commercial dispute,' the presidency and the Commission said in a joint statement.

They added that the EU would 'intensify the dialogue with both parties so that they can reach an agreement swiftly'.

Overnight the Russian Prime Minister Vladimir Putin ordered the state energy giant Gazprom to cut supplies to and through Ukraine by around three-fifths amid accusations its neighbour has been siphoning off and stealing Russian gas.

Ukraine says the Russian move has been prompted by payment and price disputes, a row between the two that has become almost annual.

The effects of the dispute on the rest of Europe however is stark, said Ukraine's main gas supplier.

Around 80 per cent of the gas European Union countries receive from Russia comes through Ukraine.

While Germany and France are much more exposed, it is reckoned in some estimates that 15 per cent of Britain's supplies come from Russia through pipelines into the UK's east coast.

'They [the Russians] have reduced deliveries to 92 million cubic metres per 24 hours compared to the promised 221 million cubic metres without explanation,' said Valentin Zemlyansky of the Ukrainian gas company Naftogaz.

'We do not understand how we will deliver gas to Europe. This means that in a few hours problems with supplies to Europe will begin.'

Wholesale gas prices have already risen on the back of the rallying price of oil, up 50 per cent in the last fortnight to more than $48 a barrel on the back of Middle East tension over Israeli incursions into Palestinian-held Gaza.

The dispute stokes fears Britain is over reliant on imported gas. North Sea stocks are dwindling, though initiatives are in place to build the Langeled pipeline from Norway, improve underground long-term storage facilities and receive liquefied natural gas by ship from Africa and Asia.

Eastern and central European countries are already reporting supply problems, including the Czech Republic which has the current presidency of the EU. The EU as a whole depends on Russia for 25 per cent of its gas supplies.

Kili Stars yaifunga Zenji

Timu zilikuwa;Zanzibar:Mohamed Abdallah, Haji Abdi. Omar Juma/Ali Hamza (58), Nadir Haroub Canavaro, Suleiman Kassim, Mohamed Seif, Haji Ramadhani, Amour Suleiman, Abdi Kassim , Aggrey Morris na Abdughani Gulam.

Kili Stars:Juma Dihile, Shdrack Nsajigwa, Juma Jabu, Meshack Abel, Salum Sued, Godfrey Bonny, Mrisho Ngassa, Henry Joseph/Athuman Idd (dk.57), Danny Mrwanda, Haruna Moshi Boban na Kigi Makasi/Mussa Hassan Mgosi (dk.58)

Miracle of woman who fell pregnant - despite having TWO reproductive systems

One in a million: Lindsay Hasaj has two reproductive systems
____________________________________________________________________________

When Lindsay Hasaj found out she was pregnant, she and her husband Tony were thrilled.

But five weeks later, the 27-year old received a bigger surprise - doctors told her she had a dual reproductive system, with the baby growing in one of her two wombs.

Only one in a million women have her anatomy but now that her condition has been diagnosed, she should be able to have a perfectly normal pregnancy.

Yesterday Mrs Hasaj spoke about her extraordinary discovery.

'I can't wait to be a mum and I know Tony is going to make the best dad,' the financial sales worker said. 'Because of what has happened, I feel this baby is extra special.'

Her condition - which means that she also has two cervixes and two vaginas - halves the chance of fertilisation.

It was pure luck that she became pregnant only two months after she and her 30-year-old husband, began trying for a baby shortly after their marriage last July.

'The moment I broke the news to Tony was incredible, we were both so happy,' she said.

'We decided we didn't want to know whether it's a boy or a girl.'

She was unaware of a bigger surprise to come. Her rare condition, uterus didelphys, had not been detected because her body is normal externally.

In November she went to hospital with a pain in her abdomen that she feared was caused by an ectopic pregnancy - when a baby grows outside the womb.

She decided not to worry her husband, who was visiting relatives in Albania. 'I hoped I was just being a hypochondriac,' she said.

An ectopic pregnancy was ruled out, but more tests were ordered.

'I was in a cold sweat,' she recalled. 'I thought they were going to say I'd had a phantom pregnancy or something. Ten minutes later I was told very matter-of-factly that they could see two wombs and two cervixes.'

A scan of Lindsay's baby

Extra special: A scan of Lindsay's baby

Although eight in 10,000 women in the UK have some form of uterus didelphys, only one in a million has exactly Mrs Hasaj's anatomy. She has one entrance to her vagina, which then divides into two internally.

'It finally made sense of why I'd always had inconclusive readings from smear tests,' she said. 'Each time it would have been as though they were investigating two different people. I felt so scared for the baby and wondered if I was a real woman.'

Doctors assured her that with the proper care her unborn child's health should not be affected.

'The baby was kicking and wriggling and it felt wonderful. It made me feel like I was any other mum experiencing the joys of pregnancy.'

The next step was to call her husband, a security firm manager, to break the news.

She said: 'Niggling in the back of my mind was the worry that he would think I was a freak.

'It was such a relief when I heard his comforting voice.'

Mr Hasaj - who three months before the wedding spent a week in a coma after a serious motorcycle accident - added: 'We can't wait until July when the baby will be with us - probably to cause more mischief!'

Dr Peter Bowen-Simpkins, a consultant obstetrician and gynaecologist at the London Women's Clinic, explained how lucky Mrs Hasaj, of Finchley, North London, had been.

He said: 'Having uterus didelphys halves the chance of falling pregnant. There is only a 50 per cent chance of the sperm fertilising via the vagina that is ovulating at that time.'

The condition does pose some problems because the two wombs are considerably weaker than a normal one.

Now three months pregnant, Mrs Hasaj is having her cervix checked every fortnight and may take hormones to strengthen it.

Doctors have also told her this will probably be her only baby and her dreams of a large family are unlikely to be fulfilled. 'I'm just happy that I've been given the chance to be a mum at least once,' she said.
